F. Harms of Attachments-Attachments can destroy our capacity to love.
What can a person do during THE SILENCE OF THE QUIETUDE ?
Advantages of Detachments and JOURNEYING INWARD. Moves towards PERFECT LOVE” which fears nothing.
F.Attachments can destroy our capacity to love.A person attached will continue to struggle within till the end of life. Externally the person may lead a pretentious life but deep WITHIN this person is a slave to his/her/their attachment. General craving- Waiting and longing to gratify the five senses on a regular basis (the demand for this, is coming from deep down (attraction / attachment of the eye and other senses to all created things)For e.g.-persons, things, property, works, food, intellect- appetite of reading too much etc.F.What can a person do duringTHE SILENCE OF THE QUIETUDE ?Examine our Conscience of
Mental negativity
Weaknesses
Desires and Fears
Dependence on “ANTAR YAMI” “THE DEEPEST POINT” is “THE HIGHEST POINT”that helps to perfect the senses. Thus “AWAKENING” the sixth sense.
In theACTIVE STAGES OF THE JOURNEY,As discussed earlier it is the Conscious layers of the mind which store the branches of the negative traits. Is about making an active effort and prepare oneself by detaching, unhooking and denying the urges of the flesh (Negative traits- Ego, Pride, jealousy, anger, greed, sloth, gluttony and cravings). The roots of the traits which are growing in unconscious layers of the mind are in the spiritual part of the SOUL which are cleansed only in theTHE PASSIVE STAGESOFTHE JOURNEYwhichdoes not involve human effort but rest is now left to “ANTAR YAMI” “THE INNER BEING” takes over THE JOURNEY.(This will be discussed later inTHESTAGES OF THE JOURNEY).
For e.g.- There can be URGES of popping in a sugar pill , having a drag of a cigarette, cleaning or keeping things in order, in sipping a peg of wine, if we give in we will be feeding a negative trait CRAVING.. Without the weakening of general craving (through detachment), negativities will not be weakened since all this has to do with the eye (as these are supply lines which I have to cut off). The person struggles in thoughts and imaginations.F.Advantages of Detachments andJOURNEYING INWARD.Moves towards“PERFECT LOVE” which fears nothing.i. Only a detached person experiences joy and delight and does not experience gross pleasures of the senses experienced through attachments.ii.It is PERFECT LOVE that drives out every fear, (because fear has to do with punishment).iii.It is not about possessing. Only when a SOUL is detached can it Love perfectly or enjoy the creation in a genuine way without possessing it or being possessed by it . (Earlier we have discussed that the moment the hand touches any created thing attachment begins). It is about letting the rose be on the plant.iv. It is not about I do this so you do this. It is about UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.Love but be compassionate to the other. (Not keeping any debt of returning love). As you cannot give what you have received, neither should you hoard what you have received.UNCONDITIONAL LOVEis no mere human virtue; when you reach a point, thought (attitude) , word and deed (actions) will release its fragrance. v. In the measure we detach, is the same measure we will be able to LOVE, “ANTAR YAMI’ “THE INNER BEING” in the deepest center of the SOUL and the others around us. Owe nothing to anybody, except to love one another. Leave no loans of any kind for others.
जीतो अक्रोध से क्रोध, साधुत्व से असाधु को,
Win anger with equanimity, the un virtuous with virtue,
कं जूसी दान से जीतो, सत्य से झूठवादी को।
Win miserliness with charity, the fraudulent with truth.
वैर से न कदािप भी मिटते वैर है नहीं
Enmity can never be ended with enmity
मैत्री ही से मिटते वैर, यही धमर् सनातन
Only friendship can end enmity, this is the eternal religion.
